Dentistry
Each of our locations has a dental and surgical suite! All of our dental procedures are done under anesthesia and include full-mouth dental radiographs. Our experienced veterinarians can perform extractions if medically necessary. Pre-operative bloodwork is recommended within 3 months of scheduling your pet for a surgical or dental procedure, to ensure they are a good surgical candidate. Urgent care
When emergencies happen, our urgent care services are here to provide immediate attention. During business hours, we will do our very best to see your pet. However, if we are unable to accommodate your visit or if an emergency takes place after-hours, we recommend that you call one of the local emergency or urgent cares listed on our "After Hours & Urgent Care" page.

We’ve been bringing Lance to District Vet since we adopted him through City Dogs Rescue. He was heartworm positive at the time so we were “frequent... flyers” for a while. Dr. Frost was fantastic! She helped my dog with a painful abscessed tooth. She addressed my concerns thoroughly and confidently explained the... treatment plan. We scheduled a tooth extraction, and she also cleaned his teeth (which were long overdue!) and took care of his annual treatments. Even though my dog is super anxious at the vet, Dr. Frost handled him with amazing care. I'm so happy with the results and highly recommend Dr. Frost and this clinic! Thank you!read more

I came into District Vet at Eastern Market in a slight rush, we were leaving on vacation and our dog started limping fairly noticeably. We wanted to... make sure we had everything we needed for our pup to be taken care of, so our dogsitter would be in the know. The problem was, we came in right before they closed for the day.The whole team stayed and went above and beyond to make sure we got our pup taken care of, and Dr. Camden was exceptionally patient and thorough with our dog (well, me too); we left in very comforted and high spirits.read more

My only regret is that I didn't move my Pixie to District Vet earlier in her life! She went to probably 10 vets over the course of a few moves, and... District Vet (both Navy Yard and Eastern Market) were the first ones where she clearly felt calm, cared for, and confident -- thanks to the gifted and thoroughly thoughtful vets, techs, and admins. The rooms are clean and well-lit without being feeling overly clinical. Dr. Tonic in particular was amazing during my dog's final illness and our goodbye. She presented treatment options, costs, and potential benefits with the highest level of sensitivity and compassion. Thank you, so much, for making the hardest days much more manageable and for enabling us to make some last wonderful memories. When we are ready for our next dog, we will without a doubt head directly to District Vet and Dr. Tonic for a full life of care.read more

Facility is very clean and well appointed. We were called in right away. The vet tech was very nice and professional. My dog was very at ease,... which she was not at our former vet. The vet came in promptly and greeted us with a smile and some spray cheese for my dog! The vet was very professional. My dog was there for a vaccination, and, a routine exam was preformed. The vet explained things she was looking for and my dog came out with flying colors! My dog, Napa, was taken to the back for her vaccine and mani/pedi! I was also very surprised at the bill! In a good way. Being in DC, I was expecting the bill to be astronomical, but, it was very reasonable. I highly recommend District Vet Hospital-Navy Yard and trust them with my pets.read more
I cant believe I’m just now writing this review but been taking my dog Bogue to District Vet since 2020. They are far and away the best vets I’ve... ever dealt with and my dog agrees. Anytime we step foot this block of 7th st, he’s dragging me to the door of District Vet. Everyone from the front desk folks (especially Cole!) to the vet techs and vets are fantastic.I’ve worked directly with Dr. Evans and Dr. Hayes. I’m sure this is true with all their vets and vet techs but Dr. Evans really just goes above and beyond. She’s incredibly thorough on the technical medical side and unbelievably empathetic and caring on the patient / owner side. This is true for even for small routine visits.Over the past several weeks my dog has been through it and Dr. Evans and the rest of the staff have been there every step of the way. I truly can’t recommend a better set of animal care providers than them!read more
